The previous version of Unique Bird Feeder From Upcycled Used Military Ammo Box was allowing to much water into the openings I cut out. Despite drilling small drain holes in the bottom it seems like the water was causing the bird seed to get spoiled or moldy.
Since magnets work great on this feeder I decided to try some magnetic vent deflectors, such as:
These vent deflectors are adjustable and fit perfectly on this ammo box. Admittedly, I’m not wild about the way they look and I’m a bit concerned the birds may run into them, since they are see through. Even so, they seem to be helping to keeping the rain out. Here is what they look like

The magnets on these vent deflectors are pretty weak. I may add a couple of rare earth magnets to these to keep them from blowing off during a strong wind gust.
